What I've seen around the valley are Trumpeter Swans.

Male Trumpeter Swans have a small orange stripe on their lower mandible. Whereas Male Whistling Swans heads are all black with no stripe. Also Trumpeter Swans are much rarer generally in Alaska and Eastern B.C.

I have a photo where I can see orange on the lower mandible. That's why I said Trumpeter. I'll try later for a better head shot.

Male Whistling swans beaks are completely jet black, this is what I observed from thirty yards. , Immature Whistling swans have coloration on the upper beak. Male trumpeter swans have a small orange stripe on their mandible,, b
