Whistling Swans

Three total two males one female, positive identification this afternoon. They have been thee several days, watched them feeding.. Bruce Herron Wolf Creek

What I've seen around the valley are Trumpeter Swans.

Male Trumpeter Swans have a small orange stripe on their lower mandible. Whereas Male Whistling Swans heads are all black with no stripe. Also Trumpeter Swans are much rarer generally in Alaska and Eastern B.C.

I have a photo where I can see orange on the lower mandible. That's why I said Trumpeter. I'll try later for a better head shot.

My bird guide book indicates otherwise, oh well, they are big and beautiful visitors, b

Male Whistling swans beaks are completely jet black, this is what I observed from thirty yards. , Immature Whistling swans have coloration on the upper beak. Male trumpeter swans have a small orange stripe on their mandible,, b
