Rosauers has an excellent selection of organic produce but if you're looking for local—stop by Glover Street Market (or the Farmers Market through October). There maybe other outlets for local produce. Please feel free to mention them.

We're lucky to have the selection of produce in our small communities that we do.

Just an aside. I usually buy myself several gas gift cards for winter use. You know, when your paying PUD bills that are higher than the cost of your car. Well, there are changes. They now give you a piece of paper instead of a plastic card, secondly, you have to use the complete amount at once. I would get two or three $100 cards and slowly use them. Not no more.

Yes, I am aware of the local sources of produce including Glover Street Market and of course the farmer's market.

The reason I ask is because this year I prematurely harvested all our butternut squash because of the cold nights we had last week. They were not ready to harvest but I did not want them to freeze so I picked them hoping for the best.

Hank's always had a good selection of butternut squash in the fall that was grown locally. I was wondering if Rouauers had some kind of corporate restriction from selling locally grown produce? In any case, I need to find a source of good, sweet butternut squash to stock up in our root cellar for the winter.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, you may be able to get them to ripen, if stored in a 70-80 degree space. I accidently cut a vine that had an immature one on it and it is ripening.
Another year with the cold, I harvested them and ripened them this way. Not as ideal but I was able to use them.
Maybe if you post on this BB, someone will have enough extra.

Barter Faire - now known as the Okanogan Family Faire - is (and once was much more prolific for such) and great place to stock up on root and squash cellaring winter food source.
This year it is Oct 16, 17 & 18th. Day passes available.
