Labor Day. The commissioners did not meet.
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 AM
• Stan Myers, Director of the Office of Public Defense, tells the commissioners that he must step down as director due to the need to care for his elderly parents in Western Washington. He would be able to remain an attorney in the office, working mostly remotely and occasionally in Okanogan County.
• The commissioners discuss the issue of allowing political groups to hold their meetings in the commissioners’ meeting room. The County Republicans sometimes hold meetings there, but the County Democrats have never asked to do so. Shelley Keitzman, Risk Management, says there’s a statute that disallows using the room for any kind of political activity. The commissioners consider not allowing either party to use the room, but will consult with Esther Milner, Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor, first.
• County Engineer Josh Thomson updates the commissioners on various road projects around the county.
• Meeting adjourned at 11:17. BOCC will reconvene at 3:30, after the Board of Health Meeting.
