Learn Historic Preservation Techniques from an Expert

Post by ShaferMuseum » Fri Apr 17, 2026 2:17 pm

Chris Gustafson, a Historic Preservation & Restoration expert will be working at the Shafer Museum April 27-May 2. Chris has helped us out before to care for our log cabins and he's back this time to focus on window restoration. Folks interested in learning from Chris can volunteer to help with the project. You can learn the whole process start to finish or pop in when you have time and learn a few things. We'll be working from 9:30am - 3:30pm at the museum workshop (285 Castle Ave. Winthrop)

Chris is one-of-a-kind and you are sure to go home with information to tackle your own preservation and restoration projects. He has worked to restore an old fire lookout (https://youtu.be/GTs_IVEaZgY) and numerous historic buildings throughout Washington.
