American Conservation Experience positions based in Winthrop – apply now!

Post by fsadmin » Fri Feb 13, 2026 3:32 pm

American Conservation Experience (ACE), a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest/Methow Valley Ranger District is seeking (3) Front Country Recreation Technicians, (2) Trails Technicians, and (1) Irrigation/Ranch Hand Technician to contribute to the district’s recreation program. Selected applicants will be working alongside USFS Staff.

The Recreation Technicians will assist Forest Service personnel with the operation and maintenance of US Forest Service developed recreation sites, including campgrounds, trailheads, and day use areas. Work activities will include cleaning recreation sites, infrastructure construction and repair, vegetation management, maintaining information kiosks, and providing visitor information. Work outside all summer, interact with campers and hikers, and get to see all parts of the district.

Trails Technicians will work alongside Forest Service trail crew as a team, working to log and brush trails, repair tread, and rebuild trails affected by fires throughout the Methow Valley Ranger District. If you like hard work out deep in the backcountry, this could be a great fit.

The Irrigation/Ranch Hand will work alongside the Forest Service packer to support ranch and irrigation operations at 8 Mile Ranch, home to the Methow Valley Ranger District’s 20 head of horses and mules. The ranch supports trails and wilderness work on the district. If you like working outside and being around animals, this may be the position for you! The ranch hand will help to operate and repair wheel line irrigation and associated sprinkler systems, move wheel lines, troubleshoot leaks and malfunctions, maintain and construct fencing, operate and maintain small motors and power tools, and assist the Forest Service Packer with care and maintenance of the herd.

For more information and to apply, visit the American Conservation Experience website. Look for the “EPIC” (Emerging Professionals in Conservation) crews and search for positions in Winthrop, WA.

Or call the Methow Valley Ranger District at 509-996-4000 for more information.
