Red Flag Warning gone?
Red Flag Warning gone?
Looks like the NWS took down the red flag warning that had been posted for this afternoon/evening and Tuesday afternoon/evening. Wonder why? Of course as always, fire danger is still a reality, especially as the heat continues.
Re: Red Flag Warning gone?
There initially was (maybe still is?) a chance of dry, elevated thunderstorms in the cascades today and tomorrow and the threat included the Methow Valley area among others. The NWS regional forecast discussion states that "...the concern for these dry thunderstorms along with the hot and unstable conditions is contributing to the Red Flag Warnings in place here."
There isn't any significant wind forecast that could also drive a Red Flag Warning, so it's possible one of these other parameters improved enough for them to cancel the warning.
