I have a bunch of mechanical-type toys built from everyday parts (arcade catapult, trebuchet, mechanical claw, spin art machine, wooden crane, 3D viewer, etc.) plus a couple boxes of miscellaneous parts for building similar items (battery packs, metal fasteners, foam pieces, balsawood pieces, fiber optic filaments, and lots more).
These are all parts or built items from Kiwi Tinker Crates, which are designed for kids to explore engineering concepts.
Free to a kid who would have fun exploring the mechanics of things and inventing something new. Would keep someone busy for hours this summer!
