ISO… chickens( neighbors waiting till spring )

Post by colleenTC » Thu Jan 02, 2025 5:18 pm

A neighbors coop ravaged by some animal that killed all their chickens last night.

I’m reaching out to hopefully find a few replacements till they can start over or find someone that may be looking for a new home for some.

They appreciate the response but will wait till spring to start over.

Thank you

Sorry to hear about your neighbors chickens :( My husband and I are in upper Heckendorn, bob cats have taken out 14 of our chickens in the past month. We too had an attack on Wednesday night that took out the last of our flock. We suspect that one got in during the short window after dark before the automated door closed. We have game cams up that somehow missed alerting us to them getting in the coop on Wednesday night. We left a few carcasses out Thursday night and caught 2 different cats, a male and a female, returning for the kill. It’s the harsh reality of keeping chickens in the mountains. I hope your neighbors finds a new flock!

Thank you for your message. They plan to start over in the spring.

Some does have a Rooster to start a flock if needed.

I keep AR-15s in addition to chickens. They are bobcats natural predators.
