anyone local repair solar panel installation?
anyone local repair solar panel installation?
I have two solar arrays. Each has a separate inverter but they join on the 240vac line. They were installed around 2012. Naturally, the manufacturer of the inverters went out of business years ago. So much for long term warranties.
One array stopped working a few days ago. The GFI light is on and the inverter panel reads "Riso low" with a 0.6 Mohm resistance. This could mean a wiring fault in the ground circuit or possibly a defect on one of the 10 solar panels -- it shows some cracks. I have tried rebooting the system but nothing changes.
Is there anyone in the valley that does solar repairs or ???

Randy, possibly Dave Sabold's kid/nephew??
Mel Cooke

Thanks, Mel, for reminding me about Ben Sabold. He actually worked on the electrical when my house was built. I've left him a message.

Hey, Mel,
I don't know what you did but now it's working fine!
Or maybe my resetting the system late yesterday took until the sun was on it today to work. The ground resistance (RISO) is back up where it should be, if any of you readers know what that means.
Weird.

Oh, well, the array is back offline. So I still need someone to repair the system.
Have not heard back from Ben Sabold or anyone else, for that matter. So I'm still looking for someone.

Re: anyone local repair solar panel installation?
I'm not sure what your setup is. Sounds like a moisture problem. My setup is three panels in series to one breaker (have about thirty panels and 10 breakers). I'd try to isolate by throwing breakers to find the bad panel series. Could also be moisture in a connector.

Thanks, fr.creek. My setup is quite different, and my problem is an intermittent ground fault.
