I am trying to decide whether to replace an existing range with electric or get gas (propane). I have gas in my house but not to the range location so we'd need to extend it, maybe 20ft
Short of paying for a plumber to generate an estimate, how much do you think this would be, approximately? $500, $1000? More?
Cost to extend an LPG line?
Re: Cost to extend an LPG line?
There are lots of variables that can influence the cost. I am not a plumber and have never installed gas lines, full disclosure.
One thing to consider is the service line downstream of the regulator and whether it will accommodate additional demand from the range. You didn't mention what the gas currently services in your house, but there is a possibility you would need to up-size your supply line. There are calculators on the web that factor in BTU demand as well as distance traveled to inform you of the need to up-size.
Another consideration is how easy will it be to plumb the new range. Are you on a slab or do you have a crawl space? Are you on an outside wall or inside? Will you need to go thru an attic or tear open walls to install piping.
Getting an estimate would be a good way to go IMO, but understanding some of the variables should help make any decision easier.
