Free refrigerator-Needs repair

Free Whirlpool frig needs repair. Top will freeze, but main cabinet will not cool enough. 5 years old, original price $678. Repair or use for parts. You haul it from our place just outside Winthrop.

Most common failure mode is the clock that runs the defrost cycle. If it stops, the ice around the coils builds up until air doesn't flow to cool the main cabinet. Usually a simple and inexpensive fix.

A test would be to unplug the refrigerator and let it warm up until that ice melts (there will be water on the floor), then start it up again. If the main cabinet is getting cool again, then the clock is your problem.

Yeah, unfortunately tried unplugging, total defrost. No go.
