Weekly Summary:
Monday, Jan. 5, 2026
• Commissioner Hover is elected Chair and Commissioner Neal is elected Vice-Chair for 2026.
• A non-profit group, Friends of the Fairgrounds, has been created. Money it raises will be donated for specific projects at the Fairgrounds.
• During comment period, Angie Morgan-Chilmonik tells the commissioners that the Omak City Council meets tonight and will discuss the proposed closure of the Omak Library, a branch of the NCW Libraries. She will attend the meeting to find out the reason for the proposal.
• Pete Palmer, Planning Director, discusses a proposed meeting with someone at the state’s Dept. of Commerce concerning the Critical Areas Ordinance and possibly the Growth Management Act.
• Maurice Goodall, Emergency Management, reports that Little Boulder Creek, which caused the washout on Hwy. 20, has been re-routed back to its original creek bed, but he worries that the bed is now straighter and deeper than it was originally.
• Tim Meadows, Maintenance Supervisor, tells the commissioners there has been a suspicious person hanging around in the Court House for several days. Meadows has seen a surveillance video of the person licking things.
• The commissioners discuss the master contract they’ll have with Design West, the on-call architectural firm. Each project will also include a contract that’s specific to the project.
• Meeting adjourned for the day at 11:21.
