Methow Valley News
Methow Valley News
Article in Seattle Times that MV News is closing ?
Re: Methow Valley News
Nothing in that article states that the MVNews is closing.
It was about what small town papers face as owners age.

Re: Methow Valley News
No question that we need local news. The current subscription is to cheap,I doubt they would loose many subscribers at Increased subscription
Re: Methow Valley News
My opinion is:locals should automatically get a subscription without costs..considering how many thousands of copies each week they throw out…makes good free fire starter tho
So you can have week old news for free anyway

Re: Methow Valley News
I won't renew my subscription I'm tired of Len Baublitz not wanting ATV's because he thinks they create to much combustion. What about every vehicle that brings in fat tire bikes and mountain bikes and snow mobiles. They definitely bring in the combustion from everyone of those rigs. So I'll definitely not renew. .
LOCAL newspapers - whether large or small….and whether or not you agree with their choice of stories or editorial policies, or not - are ALWAYS worth supporting!
Having a local newspaper that covers the school board, the planning committees, the Town Council meetings, etc, etc etc ….are what PARTICIPATORY democracies are all about.
When I have spent time out of the area and returned, I’ve sometimes gone to the MVNews office and paid $ for each week I was gone - even though I’d read the paper on-line. I was happy to do so.
When we get ALL our news …and ONLY…from Facebook, You-tube, X, Tik-Tok, Instagram, PBS, Fox, and other large organizations etc, we are losing that vital thing that makes a community!
Why would anyone expect to receive an item - for free - that involves the considerable labor and expense of others? Would you come to my house and paint it for free….because - you know - it will be ‘old’ next week? just wondering…

Deleted for rules violations....sheesh
Sorry, what is this? I never wrote the above and why was my post removed?
Just wanted to say there is another news source in the valley- mvexaminer.com. I hope these two papers can co-exist.

I concur! Local newspapers are a vital community resource and need to be supported regardless of what is said on the "Opinion" page. Anyone is free to voice their opinion on the opinion page in the form of a letter to the editor or "My Turn."
Re: Methow Valley News
I totally agree with the opinions in support of the Methow Valley News. Being part of a small remote community means supporting the local businesses that provide services to us. That includes our local newspaper. It is not necessary to agree with all the opinions that are expressed in the newspaper, but without our local newspaper, nobody's opinion would be covered. I support the Methow Valley News and look forward continuing my subscription and reading it each week.
