chinking a log house on the outside
chinking a log house on the outside
well the subject says it all. My house is 32X28..pretty big logs. Chinking only the bottom of the house and not to the gable ends. I chinked the house with "perma chink" some years back. Since that time the chinking has split , not in all places, but especially in the checks. I am looking for someone with experience as I am expecting a good job. I would also be around to help. Look forward to hearing back from a good chinker. hm 509-5160 cell 509-577-2247 Larry

Re: chinking a log house on the outside
Having spent a whole summer x 2 in Montana chinking medium, large and deluxe log cabins with perma-chink and other such advanced polymer products... if you got split after only a short window (up to 10 years) of application --that is improper installation or a whole lotta foundation movement.
If the cracks are large - visible - do then next expert a favor and oscillate out the bad apple so as to make the repairs more passable.
Lotsa info in forums online... sorry you are experiencing this application malfunction.
Good luck with the next round solution!
