My 24" EGO electric snowblower went wonk while clearing snow yesterday. The auger and chute are clear of snow and obstructions. No shear pins were broken. When I press the start up button the LED indicator flashes green, as in GO. And when I press the left hand drive lever, the blower moves forward/reverse like normal. But, when I press the right hand auger engage lever, I hear a click/clunk, the LED indicator flashes yellow, and nothing happens. The batteries are charged and fine. Both the augers and impeller have some rotary play in them. They are not seized. I am not sure what I need to do. Thanks for any help or advice, and/or recommendations on local experts on these machines.

EGO electric snowblower tech help
Re: EGO electric snowblower tech help
we had trouble with ours, self propell function stopped working. 5 year warranty. Called Ego, had to jump thru some hoops, and it took a few follow up calls, but they replaced ours- free. They said there was no service center near us so they shipped a new unit, without batteries or charger, to us free. So if yours is less then 5 years old and you have proof or purchase I give them a call.
Re: EGO electric snowblower tech help
I've just inherited one of these with the exact same problem you are describing. Yesterday I tore it down to the primary gearbox. I'm tinkering and it might take a day or two but I'll let you know what I find. I'd go for the warranty claim in the meantime.

Re: EGO electric snowblower tech help
Steve,
take a look at the handle lever for the auger.
There should be a cable leading into the auger housing below.
Pull on that cable and if it is totally loose then that very cable broke off
from the auger control bracket inside the auger housing.
I have to admit that I'm not familiar with your machine but I'm sure that all
blowers work on the same mechanism.
I had faced a similar problem with my 2-stage gas powered blower and it was
a 20 minute job to replace the broken cable.
If you wish to tackle the fix yourself, give you-tube a try for instructions
or contact an on-line parts seller, many do show instruction videos.
As for parts, I had good luck with ereplacementparts.com .
Hope this helps and good luck,
Peter, in Twisp.

Re: EGO electric snowblower tech help
I tore deeper and found a sheared gear tooth in the primary gearbox. Peter is right on gas powered rigs but on electric when you press the engage button it engages an electric motor so the fact that you heard the click/clunk sound meant the motor was trying and it's electrical wires and not a cable you're dealing with. I bet you've also got gearbox damage. further note: to get to the primary gearbox you remove(not in this order) reels and secondary gearbox, paddles, hood, chute, wheels, handles, batteries, gearbox structure and finally the front cover of the gearbox which also removes the spindle. Not worth the effort probably. Sent you a text with a photo.- Maybe Kevco still has his original which sounds like didn't involve this gearbox?
