Winthrop's Water System

Post by mudstick » Sun Nov 24, 2024 4:31 pm

Can anyone tell me why the town of Winthrop does not have a backup water pump rather than a "temporary pump"? Is there not a law that says something like that should be in place? If not, I would think this should be a wake up call for the town to be better prepared for a future pump failure.

What I don't understand is why they have that pipe running across the bridge on the surface of the ground. Is the pipe replacement project completed and that's the way its going to be? b

Bruce, the paper reported that they were waiting for some special insulated pipe, but that it had to be installed before the first snow fell as the DOE permit required they stop work over the river at that point. Guess the pipe didn't get here in time.

Is this a good time for the Methow Housing Trust proposed Larkspur Flats development? Just asking....

Exactly what has been problem for years now? The town has been working and spending money to test and ensure it has functioning wells. The pipe project over the bridge was funded at the federal level. The town is working on securing more water rights to support necessary growth. It’s working on planning and funding a new sewer plant. Unhappy with things you’re uninformed about? Run for town council.
