Hey folks - Does anyone have a report on the condition of the road up to Goat Peak? Haven't been on it in a few years. Lots of potholes or relatively smooth? Can I do it in a Chevy Bolt? Or need a Subaru? Thanks!

On September 6, a working crew had already completed grading the road on most of its length. For me, that day, it was the smoothest it has ever been in years, with fresh, small-size gravel at places. Washboard pattern was starting to form on the steep sections at low altitude, where the gravel was coarser, and which I suppose had been graded several weeks earlier. If the road conditions have not changed much since three weeks ago, a Chevy Bolt should be able to make it all the way to the trailhead without traction trouble, and ground clearance should be fine too. Just be careful for occasional big stones that may have fallen from the cliff.
