Caring for People Living with Dementia
4-part Education Series
September 23, 30 and October 7 and 14
1:00 - 3:00 PM
Winthrop Library Community Room
Join us for a free four-week course with Sheila Brandenburg, RN — 39 years of nursing experience, including hospice and palliative care. Learn practical, compassionate approaches to dementia care and how to care for yourself as a caregiver too. A dementia-friendly arts program is available for your loved one during each session. Join us for the annual Methow Valley Health & Wellness Fair—a welcoming community event designed to help you stay healthy, informed, and connected. While this event is focused on the needs of older adults, everyone is welcome to attend and learn about the many health and wellness resources available in the Methow Valley.

A Matter of Balance Program
8 sessions starting October 6th
Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Twisp Valley Grange
An evidence-based, field-tested program, A Matter of Balance has been shown to be highly effective in reducing the fear of falling and increasing activity levels among older adults. The program enables participants gain confidence by learning to:
-View falls as controllable
-Set goals for increasing activity levels
-Make changes to reduce fall risk at home
-Exercise to increase strength and balance
This program will be taught by Erin Cass of Healthy Aging. Spaces limited, sign up at www.methowathome.org/events

Methow At Home’s dementia education and care partner support programming and the Methow Creative Aging program are made possible with the support of Moccasin Lake Foundation, the Richard & Maude Ferry Charitable Foundation, and The Methow Valley Elder Care Coordination Network (the Network) - a coalition of social and medical service providers and volunteers working to better serve our age 65+ community members.
