Scot Nakagawa, co-founder and co-director of the 22nd Century Initiative (22CI) and author of the Substack, the Anti-Authoritarian Playbook, will join Methow Rising via Zoom in a special engagement at the Winthrop Library on Thursday, September 10, from 6:30pm-8pm. Co-sponsored by Common Power and Third Act Washington.
Scot will share information about 22CI whose mission is to build and strengthen a civil resistance movement capable of stopping authoritarian consolidation while sustaining the long-term work of democratic renewal and reconstruction and offer a strategic direction for pro-democracy groups to defeat authoritarianism. The key: Acting together - regardless of differences - to bring collective strength. Scot's framework, “Many Springs, One River,” is being implemented by activist organizations across America. The session will include robust Q&A.
We will also be joined at the session by a youth representative from the Washington Youth Alliance. Our WYA guest will discuss the importance of youth engagement to protect our democracy and the possibility of forming a Washington Youth Alliance chapter in the Methow Valley.
