• During the public comment period, the commissions hear multiple comments about Commissioner Timm’s confrontation with Dennis Carlton several weeks ago. Commissioner Timm agrees that he acted badly. He’s talked to Carlton, apologized to him, and Carlton has graciously accepted his apology. Commissioner Timm says he will not act that way again.
• Others making comments are opposed to the shortened hours at the fairgrounds the commissioners instituted because of the unauthorized horse racing.
• One man said that the Roads Department was cutting trees as “busy work”. Commissioner Hover said he will ask Public Works about the situation.
• Stacy Stone says the commissioners poorly handled the situation when the county advertised, then cancelled a meeting of the Planning Commission without the Planning Commission knowing about the situation. Commissioner Hover agrees that they’d handled the situation badly.
• Several people said in their comments that they know the commissioners don’t want to hold the Fair anymore, and both Commissioners Neal and Hover responded that they’d never said that.
• The commissioners hear updates from the directors of the county’s WSU extension program and 4-H program.
• Meeting recessed for lunch at 10:39.
