Mayday showcase - Friday May 1st @ 7pm

I often think about where I was when I first started to write my song writing journey, 13 years old just moved up from California. The last of the 4-5 times we left everyone I knew behind. My mother worked and put herself through community college while my dad spent his last 2 years in the Navy working shifts at the recruiting office and my sister was off doing big things. Long story short, music was my buddy. Writing became my only outlet, my expressive constant, my shock and awe, and at times my mentor. My biological father, who was not in the picture at the time, was a musician so understandably my mother preferred I not follow the same path as it spelled pain in her eyes. Finding support and a place to explore something I enjoyed so much was difficult, often only possible in friend’s basements at parties with super cool parents.
This is why BU Muzik exists! We want to create a space for youth of the Methow Valley to explore their creative musical talents in a safe and comfortable environment and the Mayday Hip-Hop showcase on May 1st is our first shot! There will be relaxed, responsible adults in attendance to ensure the safety of all guests and no alcohol will be served nor allowed in or around the building. We will have free beverages and popcorn for all and a great headliner making his way up from Olympia to rock with us. AKA has performed 3 times for the local GF Fresh crew’s annual music Fest, he is a dynamic lyricist with a natural raw talent and soul you can feel. We also have local hip-hop vets VBR in the house to open the evening and bring up the energy. VBR specializes in hardcore lyrical overloads with a group flare that cannot be duplicated. Mixtape, featuring Wes Wil, will set the stage for new local hip-hop acts to showcase their hidden talent and shock the crowd. Get ready for a high energy evening!
