finally getting rid of TracFone

I started with AT&T years ago. Then I dropped AT&T during Carlton Complex.Next was Verizon. It was better, but very expensive. I switched to Tracfone and recommended it to many friends.

Over the years, Tracfone has stayed cheap but their service just got worse and worse. Even their website has been terrible.

Yesterday, I switched to US Mobile, selecting Verizon lines for the best Methow coverage. Moving my # from Tracfone to US Mobile was relatively easy. I did need to call US Mobile once for help. Wonder of wonders, it did not take long to reach a knowledgeable and understandable person.

Next, getting voicemail set up, and then visual voicemail, were each a bit problematic. But each time, I got good help from the company. Now everything is working.

The cost is around $25/month for virtually unlimited service, plus a good amount of international calling, which I can use. There's also reasonably priced international roaming (calling when traveling). Neither of these international features are in Tracfone. They do claim to include international calling, but it stopped working several years ago.

I appreciate your posts and am considering switching from T-Mobile to US Mobile. I think we would each get a perk if you refer me if you want to do that by posting something here or to me directly at syngli at methow dot com

I'm pretty sure you're right. I check how to do that. Just unpacking now from a trip.

I've been very happy with US Mobile, too. Works great in the whole valley, including Mazama, at a great price.

Sometimes during very busy summer weekends the "data" service will become very slow, but phone calls still work fine. Sometimes messages take longer to send. I learned this was because USMobile rents capacity from other providers and is "de-prioritized" during very busy times. But it's infrequent.

You should get an email with a referral code for each of us to get a $25 credit card. Use it if you like.
