Where to Recycle Lead-Acid automotive batteries

I've got about 6 or 7 dead motorcycle batteries accumulation in my shop. In a previous time and space, I would take them to AutoZone parts shop. I want to get rid of them in an ecologically friendly manner. Thanks, Dave

I used to drive everyday to Wenatchee from lost river for work.one a my coworkers was a pear farmer for generations and he sold me an old orchard truck for 200 bucks but I had to dump all the crap loaded in the bed.i threw most of it in the dumpster at the yard office but knew better than to toss them 10or11 batteries in the dumpster so I tried the recycle center.they wouldn't take em and i started thinkin about the dumpster again but the recycle guy mentioned Jerrys auto parts down the way may still be takin them.my God they gave me 7dollars apiece for them batteries.i doubt the price is that high now as that was the first time gas spiked to 4.50 a gallon at mazama store I remember.like 2009 or so.i gave half the money the orchards as I felt bad getting that money like that.but ya Jerry's might take em.if you need a battery for a rig or tractor I know north forty will take em as a core as I bought a couple tractor batteries off em and took a couple junk batteries in.saved money and got the killer sale price.
