How do I unwarp a counter top?

Post by biglakejudy » Thu Jan 29, 2026 11:22 am

My 1930s possum bottom bake table has a 30 x 48 1 1/2 inch maple wood laminated top on it. Fetched it from storage and found it had warped, concave on the top surface. Maybe less than an 1/8 inch. I had laid it down, wet it with towel and weighted it. Was immediately chastised thoroughly as extremely stupid. Hm. So, pray tell, what is the best way to bring it back to bake-ability? Should I split it length wise and have it planed then reglue it? Or was I basically on the right path. Please, your personal successes (or fails) only. thanks
