Just a Pubic Service Announcement from a pedestrian.

Unless you're walking on completely exposed pavement, sidewalk or gravel, be extra careful. Any snow packed down by vehicles or pedestrians is super slippery and the cold temperatures at night are not helping. Evaporation and sublimation have been quite modest.

Hiking poles, traction cleats and spreading sand where you walk might be a good idea.

Hey Jim and all, Several years ago I slipped in the Barn parking lot and landed on my back. Saw stars for an hour. Someone introduced me to ICE BUGS which can be boots or shoes that have cleats on them. I haven't slipped on anything since and walk right over road ice and anything without slipping. Well worth the high cost...one slip and a hip can go! Icebug.com will get you there.

Agreed. Boot chains or cleats are a must at this time of year, every year.

This may sound funny, but walking like a penguin is very effective. Short, quick steps, keeping your weight above your feet

I agree about the ICE BUGS. I bought them online, true to size. They are an investment- but now I feel secure on icy patches. Truly amazing! Built-in cleats plus rubber grippers. Ok to wear into Roseauers and post office if you are careful, but not concrete or hardwood floors.
