• Commissioners look at WSU’s County Extension budgets. Kayley Wells-Yoakum, Director, WSU Extension, describes several ways Extension could increase revenue, including giving more tests such as the pesticide applicator’s test.
• Commissioners look at several budgets for the Dispatch Center. The expenses consist mostly of the payroll costs and maintenance expenses. Revenues are derived mostly from various taxes.
• Commissioners hold an executive session concerning the Cassimer Bar property for 15 minutes, inviting Josh Thomson, County Engineer, Joanne (?) of Public Works and Esther Milner, Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor. The session is held under RCW 42.30.110(1)(iii)—action that could invite a legal risk.
• Josh Thomas tells the commissioners about a survey done by the Association of County Engineers of the increase in gas tax over the last 27 years. Almost all of the money raised by the increases has gone to the states and not to the counties.
• Commissioner Timm attended last week’s Risk Pool conference and learned that counties will be asked to pay 35% more than last year, and that the county will be responsible for the first $4,000,000 in loss, up from last year’s $3,000,000.
• Meeting adjourned for lunch at 11:56.
