We’re shopping for a used Ford F-150 Lightning and are interested in local Lightning experience. The truck will spend 99.9% of it time here in the Methow.

We’re interested in any personal experience in the valley with miles per Kilowatt as well as total range with the standard vs extended battery in summer and winter.

We have an EV with heat pump and wonder how big of a deal it is to not have one. Any insight you have about heat pump vs not would be appreciated.

Any thoughts you have on any of this or anything else you’d like to share would be greatly appreciated. Reply here on the BB or give me a call or text at 206-459-6829.

Thanks.

We bought a used 2023 Lightning ER (no heat pump) and have loved it - I've owned multiple EVs over the years and it's my favorite so far. We drive the heck out of it - have put almost 20k miles in 7 months. My wife tows her horse down to Brewster all the time, and up and over the Loup - no issues. Super comfortable, great range, a ton of space. We rarely if ever have to fast charge it because we have a home charger. Especially diving around the Valley - really never have to.

Summer we get rated range (320) winter maybe more like 250. Towing a 2 horse slant with 1 horse we get between 120-130 miles? Still, we can drive all over the Valley without thinking about charging at all. I think our average efficiency is in the low 2s. We live in Edelweiss.

Hope that helps!

I have a 24 standard range XLT Lightning. Above all else it’s a great truck. Between the onboard scales, all the cameras for maneuvering and towing, and outlets in the frunk and bed it’s a real workhorse. It’ll take a full ton in the bed! Being an EV is just a bonus. The standard range is fine for around valley stuff. I charge it once or twice a week at home. I’ve driven it to Seattle a few times, and I stop for lunch or dinner in Wenatchee or Cle Elum to charge. I charged at Newhalem once when I drove over highway 20, that was pleasant. Most fast chargers take about 20 minutes. Towing or hauling cuts range in half. My range is about 240, but I only charge to 80% and don’t go below 20% so the full range doesn’t really mean anything.
It’s the most comfortable truck I’ve owned. The software is a mixed bag. Don’t bother with the ford navigation or charge network. But it has CarPlay so you can load all the useful EV apps like ABRP. The ford app lets you remotely warm or cool the truck, which I’m surprised how much I like. It doesn’t have pet mode, but with the remote cooling on your app you can keep your pup cool while you grocery shop. I like the frunk more than I thought I would. Dry, clean space for groceries, straps, work bags, etc. keeps the cab empty. The cab is spacious, even with my family and dog. It is such a comfortable and quiet ride. Unfortunately, ford didn’t make these with standard plow mounts. There are videos online showing how to weld a custom mount. I might do that some day.
That’s all I can think of. I’m happy with mine
