Burn Restriction has not yet been lifted!
Burn Restriction has not yet been lifted!
The Burn Restriction prohibits ALL field/pile/rubbish/rule/slash/yard vegetation and non-emergent agricultural burning on private lands in Okanogan County, allowing Campfires ONLY.
Re: Burn Restriction has not yet been lifted!
Ah, but who are ya gonna call? Burning piles up Twisp River Rd. about 7 miles.
Campfires on private land allowed as long as guidelines are followed. Forest Service still says no campfires.
From past experience, If I call this in, the authorities may not come(which has been experienced before) or they come very late after the burning is done.
Shall I go talk to the people and tell them not to burn? Maybe it is one way to get to know my new neighbors. And they are new.

If they are your neighbor & new… perhaps use this as an opportunity to meet & greet them. Discuss your concerns about the burn ban rules and possibilities of fire outbreaks near your home. Clue them in fire danger is a very strong subject in the Valley. Plenty of cases to refer as evidence. Good luck.
Re: Burn Restriction has not yet been lifted!
The moisture has lent a false sense of all okay. However, walking amongst the dead balsam root leaves yesterday, proved otherwise. Already drying out and making lots of noise. The frost helps and the 16th, starts prescribed burns by the Forest Service. The thinking is if the FS can burn why can't we?

Remember, too, that if you pay DNR Fire Protection Tax (you likely do - check your tax bill), you must adhere to DNR fire restrictions – which currently do not permit recreational fires outside of DNR campgrounds, nor any Rule or Permit burns. The Okanogan County burn ban does not take precedence over the DNR restrictions if you pay the Fire Protection Tax.
