Yesterday while hiking I came across two dogs without leashes. Both dogs approached me, neither owner called to their dog. Both times I stood still to wait until the owners caught up and walked by. Although neither dog acted aggressively, neither owner apologized to me. One of the dogs pushed his snout into my groin.

People - I don't know your dogs. I know the likelihood of being bit is extremely low, but it exists and it would be nice if you could call your dogs to remain with you until you pass a stranger on the trail. I'm not asking you to leash your dog, only requesting a small courtesy.

Here, here!... courtesy, respect and responsibility keep the wheels greased in a civil community.

Most are from out of town. So may not even see this post.
My pet peave is if you are going to bag the dog poop then take the poop bag with you. Nobody is hired to go around picking up other people's poop bags. Left behind a bright pink plastic poop bag is worse than the poop. And you get no "good person" brownie points from me by leaving the bag. Be a mountaineer, pack it out, don't leave it.

The worst place I’ve seen bagged 💩that is not carried off is on tne Gunn Ranch cross country trail in the winter.
The trail is designed skiers and dogs are allowed.
Bagging dog💩and leaving it there is disgusting and I don’t think that is out of towners.

Gunn Ranch is gross absolutely and then so is the Carlton swimming hole... dogs are amok and owners watch'em leave the steaming pile and there it sits... waiting for its next buddy's sniff sniff.

So, yes ~ absolutely local and visitors alike no longer (if they ever did) give a s..... whoa, let's say "hoot".

I walk my dog daily and remove her poop 100% of the time, yet on the trails around Wolf Creek that courtesy is not returned. I always leash our dogs, When I encounter an unleashed dog I frequently hear " Its Ok, my dogs cool" and frequently they are not. This spring a "cool " unleashed malamute pinned my leashed dog down on her back. I had to wrestle my dog away. I especially enjoy the woman in my neighborhood how rides her bike at a fast pace with her dog chasing along, Its a sign of the times, common courtesy is not common. Bruce Herron Wolf Creek

Gunn Ranch is one of the worst. The dog owners think that since it's in the parking lot, it's ok. Look up what the EPA says about pet waste. It is regarded as a pollutant. Search-EPA dog poop and you may not like what it says.
It just requires people to be conscientious. If it's icky to the dog owner, think what it is like for a non dog owner.
