Driving home from Winthrop to Twisp at 10:30 pm -11 pm, we saw eight or so lightning flashes in the general direction southeast. I'm calling it towards Leecher, but I can't say we could really tell from the highway.
NOAA put out a red alert for lightning starting at 9 pm. It said:
Urgency
Take action within next hour.
Affected Area
Methow Valley
Not sure what action we were supposed to take, but the hour has passed.

Re: lightning flashes towards Leecher Mtn?
I have been seeing the lightning flashes in that direction from Twisp tonight. I'm hoping it's a weak and harmless threat. Not more fires.

Full view of of N side of Leecher Mt.from our residence. Haze but no smoke. Nothing on Watch Duty. Red Flag Warning extends until 11:00 AM today (9/1).
Let's stay safe through this very warm early September.

At 2 am, there were still lightning flashes but they seemed much farther than Leecher.
