Does anyone know of a pet insurance carrier that would provide insurance to my dog with a pre-existing condition? Any rep I've called won't provide us with insurance because of his pre-existing condition. I am struggling to keep up with the increased costs of his medication.

I am not aware of any pet insurance options that would cover a pre-existing condition but CareCredit might be an option for interest-free payments over a period of time. Eventually interest will kick in but at least you could spread the costs out, which might help. I'm not sure if it is a life-limiting condition or not in your dog's case... In any case, as a fellow owner of a dog with a chronic condition requiring lifelong medication and expensive check-ups, I'm sorry that this is happening and hope you find an option that works for you.

Most pet insurance programs won’t deal with preexisting conditions. However, when we had a dog that required expensive medications, we found that both GoodRx and SingleCare discount drug programs provided significant discounts for pet medications, so long as the medications were delivered by a regular pharmacy. You should check to see if the med’s that your pet requires can be delivered from a pharmacy. Many can. If so, it’s likely that you can find significant savings by using either GoodRX or SingleCare for your pet medications. It worked for us for several years. Talk to your vet about it, and then see if it might work for you.
