Hi there, I'm in search of a tip for a G Loomis FR1085 (9' 5 wt) GL3, after an incident my son had with his vintage rod and a closing car door. Seems like a long shot, but my internet searches have come up fruitless and G Loomis doesn't make three-piece rods anymore. Thank you in advance!

You could try posting on some of the fly-fishing forums:
www.pnwflyfishing.com
www.washingtonflyfishing.com
Those are two I know of that have active bulletin boards.
Good Luck,
Ross

Most rod manufacturers are able to provide a replacement section of a rod that has been broken or lost. There may be a modest cost for this service, but many manufacturers retain all of the components and materials to replace a section so that it is like new. I would encourage you to contact the company to see if they can assist you. Over the years, we have had more than one broken rod fully restored to service by the manufacturer. Worth looking into..
