What is the chance?

Since June the County has been going through the motions as if they are going to pave some portions of Wolf Creek Road. As about the same time OCEC has been locating power and phone lines as well as designating where the fiber would be laid. Which is more likely: The road gets paved and the power and phone lines must be re-located or the new lines will have to be installed or accessed by cutting into the new pavement? I knew a young lady applying for a college Civil Engineering program. Her application essay explained that she watched a paint crew come out and put long-overdue stripes down the road in front of her house. The next week other crews came out and cut out a section of the pavement for some utility work, pretty much wiping out the new stripes. She said she really wanted to understand why they do that.

There is also a possibility that even if they pave they will just directional drill under the road and case the holes to run utilities. I would check with the surveyor, you would be surprised sometimes how little utility companies and public road maintaining agencies communicate or don't coordinate plans. I once temp striped an entire intersection with expensive reflective beads only to have the cold plainer mill it out that day.

Chance of cutting and patching the road for utilities? 100%.

The County is trying to wait for the fiber optics workers to get done before they start, but they are on a schedule.

As expected the County Chip Sealed all of Wolf Creek Road today. Therefore all the locating markers are under the new pavement, with the exception of some of the power lines that are well off the road. I spoke with one of the County employees and he indicated that the fiber folks were warned in advance of the locating. Oh well, I guess that answers that question. Bruce Herron Wolf Creek
