Greetings Methow folk, It’s often said that "Water is Life" and here in the Valley the Methow River is the main artery storing and transporting water - the life blood of our watershed. So please join with your community to give thanks and praises to our amazing river by spending some time on Saturday August 23rd cleaning up the river.

This Methow River Clean Up and Appreciation Day can occur outside your back door, at your favorite swimming hole, along a special river run, or anywhere you can legally access the river to search for and pick up trash.

On the August 23rd clean-up day, we envision individuals, families, or groups setting out to canvas an area for clean-up. Several trash drop stations will be set up in the Valley for you to drop collected garbage including at the Winthrop Red Barn, Twisp Town Park, and Carlton Hole.

Registration is strongly encouraged for this important event and you can do that on-line through the Methow Recycles Instagram or Facebook page: @methowrecycles or through a link on the event posters that are up around town.

As an added bonus this year, there will be a free evening celebration at Twisp Works from 5-8 pm. There will be informational booths, food and drink, and music by the Methow’s own Loose Notes. Plus, all who register prior to the event will be eligible to pick up a free T-shirt and be entered into a raffle with some great prizes.

We depend on the Methow River in so many ways for the health and well-being of our community, so please consider spending some time on August 23rd showing some love for the streams we depend on here in the Methow.

The event is sponsored by the Methow Salmon Recovery Foundation, WasteWise Methow, Methow Recycles, Okanogan County Public Works, Towns of Twisp and Winthrop, WA Department of Ecology, WA Department of Fish and Wildlife, WA Department of Natural Resources, and Methow Rafting.
