Thanks Pearl,
The more eyes on this the better. We drove over from Darrington on Monday and the Methow Valley is very dry. Let's all be super careful. Wildfires. Been there, done that. Don't need that.

There is still FIREWOOD available at Hank’s….and other stores around the area!

There isnt any reason anyone needs to have a campfire - either on public or on private land - right now. The FS closed NF lands to campfires, today, INCLUDING in developed campgrounds. The WDFW closed their lands to campfires, also, a while back

It’s just a matter of a few days before the County and Fire District 6 close ALL private land to campfires, too. It’s pretty early this summer for such closures. But they are warranted.

When you visit a retail establishment that still has firewood - stacked outside - for sale….please urge them to remove the ‘temptation’…and stop selling firewood.

Curious. How is the staffing/funding for fire fighting crews and logistical support (Federal, state, local, anything, etc) for the inevitable fires this year? Only a question of when, not if, fires will happen and wondering if all the wonderful and skilled personnel, having honed their expertise over the past dozen years, have been DOGEd out of existence along with necessary logistics funding. Or maybe all is good. Don't know, just askin'......

The County Commissioners heard an update from DNR at their June 16th meeting. Detailed notes on the conversation can be found at https://www.countywatch.org/_files/ugd/b6b5de_9722ded9cced4d8b8c123950850463cb.pdf

If you want to watch the video of their conversation, you can do it here: https://media.avcaptureall.cloud/meeting/44bc253c-48de-4f57-80b5-012b9141dd0a.

The DNR report starts at about 1:26:00.

The takeaway I got is that they have new equipment that will improve their response time, they have adequate funding, and they have excellent working relationships with local and federal agencies. They are anticipating an active fire season.
