Seeking Board Gamers & Tabletop Storytellers

Post by GrantLaw » Wed Jun 18, 2025 10:12 pm

Hi neighbors —

I’m Grant. Some of you may know me for my boat and equipment repairs, or maybe for my fondness for diving. But another piece of my life is gathering people around a table for an evening of stories, laughter, and that unmistakable hush before a die lands.

Back in Bellingham, I co-hosted a thriving Monday night game night at Nelson’s for two years — a laid-back mix of board games and a few well-loved D&D side tables, with new faces always welcome. I’d love to help seed something similar here if enough folks are interested.

Board Game Night — Easy to Learn, Hard to Leave:
I have a deep library of games: clever party titles, tense co-ops, heavy strategy classics, and hidden gems for the curious. Teaching and hosting is half the fun for me, so beginners and old hands alike will feel at home.

Tabletop RPGs — As Player or Storyteller:
I’m open to joining any system as a player, but I’d also be glad to run my own gritty, low-fantasy setting: Sturngaarde. Long ago, a shattering event reshaped the land, driving people from grand cities to scattered frontier outposts. Now small communities cling to trade routes and ruins, rumors stir of old powers waking, and the wilderness creeps back over forgotten roads. It’s a wind-scoured place of uneasy magic, harsh bargains, and folk tales that might bite back if you dig too deep. Expect moral grayness, strange dreams, and stories that bend around your choices.

Playtesters Wanted — Disciples of Enki (DOE):
I’m also seeking a few brave locals to help test my board game in development, Disciples of Enki. It's an alchemical horror sandbox fusing semi-cooperative tableau building and risk-laden resonance extraction with an escalating doom clock, culminating in a phase-shifted boss encounter that mutates based on player success and moral compromise. Takes several hours. It's a lot.

Possible Local Venue:
While a garage table works fine, it’d be wonderful to partner with a local café, taproom, or other cozy space that might like a little extra life one evening a week. If you run a spot — or have ideas — let’s talk.

If you’d like to roll some dice, build a world, or just drop by for a game night, drop me a message. Let’s make something memorable here in the valley.

Sweet! I’m out of town this weekend, but that’s right up my alley. I’ll watch for the next one and get it on my calendar so I don’t miss it. Thanks for the heads up!
