• Public comment – citizens voice their concern about the impact of federal budget cuts on Okanogan County residents and about the state of our country. BOCC reassures them that the chaos is temporary, much of it is due to misinformation, everything will get settled out soon and essential programs such as Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid will be fully funded.
• Update on Juvenile Detention medical staffing.
• Fairgrounds manager update – Discussion about options for replacing well at fairgrounds.
• Update on new morgue and Sheriff storage building.
• Report from Okanogan County Behavioral Health: funding challenges; rollout of mobile crisis unit; planning for the future; challenges in hiring and retaining employees.
• Public Hearing on CDBG (Community Development Block Grants) General Purpose Micro Enterprise grant. Roni Holder-Diefenbach, Executive Director, Economic Alliance, explains the purpose of the grant and how it works.

Tuesday, March 11, 2025 AM
• The county opens up the only bid received for the Legal Newspaper of Record contract. It’s a joint bid by the Methow Valley News and the Okanogan County Gazette Tribune, both owned by Sound Publishing.
• Christina Woodworth of Search and Rescue (SAR) asks the commissioners to spend SAR’s Title III money on diving equipment for water and ice rescue and recovery instead of spending it on a 4-seater side-by-side it originally planned to buy. The commissioners agree.
• Cari Hall, County Auditor, reports that she’s making progress in adopting MUNIS, the new accounting system. EDEN, the old system, sunsets at the end of this year.
• Josh Thomson, County Engineer, gives the weekly Public Works update.

Tuesday, March 11, 2025 Board of Health monthly meeting
• To meet April deadline for implementation, Board approves Res. 2025-03, on-site sewage regulations; new feature is using nitrogen table to determine land size requirements; outhouses for 60-day yearly occupancy maximum; enforcement “complaint driven”; mandated home sale inspections for 2027, employee training necessary.
• New permitting software–Trimble– would provide “public-facing portal”, cost $17,000 for six-year contract.
• Community Health director says school nurses are interested in having overdose treatment available and receiving training; one school has policy in place, has used it.
• Medical officer’s “bright spots”: better data collection, EMS services providing buprenorphine for initial overdose treatment; WA led most of country in Jan.- Feb. influenza stats, county led the state; two measles cases in state, mostly dangerous for infants, vaccine and booster recommended.
• Administrator frustrated at temporary halt in flow of information since government changes, present and future cuts in funding, hopefully only 10%.
• Commissioner Neal amused by bill passed in Olympia authorizing 3-day cannabis festivals.
