I hope they will be forced to abandon this project.

Is the City Council vote the next step for this project? Does anyone know when that will be?

Would someone remind me when the open house is? Tomorrow? I want to go ask questions.

Thursday 4 to 6 at Twisp Works. One question I have is: DId CCEW speak to anyone of the organizations here in the valley that are involved with housing, or emergency or social out reach services that are dealing with the issues of affordable housing and homelessness Like Methow Housing Project, Room One or the Cove? I would be surprised if they did? In my opinion CCEW just wants to slam there agenda upon the valley. Bruce Herron Wolf Creek

I want to ask if this is section eight housing. Why such a long 'waiting list'? It was proposed as a housing solution for the valley when it is not. I don't begrudge anyone housing but we need to house people who have lived here but now can't.

Catholic Charities is an NGO (non-government organization) and receives the majority of their funding from the Federal government. I believe this type of funding is currently under review. I'm sure CCEW has done many worthwhile things, but I question if a project of this size is right for our Valley, especially with no assurances that it will house our locals in need of affordable housing.

I'm told that the planned development was approved at the Tuesday Town Council meeting.
Can anyone confirm?

Yes, Twisp Town Council approved the project on Tuesday. Public comments are closed and the public cannot contact councilmembers about ths project. If councilmembers are contacted, they have to disclose that in a council hearing.
Twisp Mayor Smith said they cannot stop or prevent a project if it otherwise meets comprehensive plan and town code or they would be liable to a lawsuit. Any objection to a project has to be within those parameters, not whether something is a "good" or "bad," which is subjective and opens the town to a lawsuit. The mayor said modifyng the comprehensive plan is very expensive. He said the public needs to contact him/councilmembers not about this project, but about the growth plan if they have an issue with it and told me they can vote them out if they don't like the direction. That is what he told me.
The town planner wants to increase the population of Twisp from 1k residents to 3k residents. He has been upfront about that. This is the first, but not the last project. 3k is the maximum the town's water and sewer can support. That is why they have invested in upgrading. I asked him what will happen after this limit is reached. He said go to Carlton and do the same thing. I think people need to understand what is happening long term.
Catholic Charities attends meetings with the local Housing Solutions Network, which includes Methow Trust, MVCC, Room One, and other local nonprofits. They have a website. Last year, they shared their findings with the public. I am waiting to her when their meeting will be this year.
Skylstad is what the project wll be called after it is built. Right now, it is being referred as Twisp Family Haven.
