I have a grid tie solar system
A switch and an outlet was installed next to my fridge
the outlet is supposed to power my fridge in the event of a power outage
three power outages and that switch has not done didly squat.
I am not sure if im supposed to do something to get this operable
in the event of an outage. Lacking the information, I would like
to know what makes this work as It was intended
Anyone know about this setup? Please enlighten me.
Or come out and take a look Can't get a hold of the original installer he may have retired
Thanks

Re: solar switch information needed
If it's grid-tied without some kind of battery storage, the system will shut down in any outage. Otherwise, it would be keeping your grid connection live and dangerous to anyone working to repair the lines.
At least, that's the way my 12 year old system works. I think there may be some differences in the newer, high end systems. It doesn't sound like you have one of those.

Randy This was what I was told by the person who designed my system. Plug is for an outage, not sure how it functions. I got some fleeting passdown 8 yrs ago, but when I tried to use it in an outage, nothing happend.
