You are so lucky. We have been without internet through Centurylink since Aug. 12th when lightning came through our modem and fried it. We have since gotten a new modem but an email(we are using the library computers) said we need a tech to activate it.
We have had 7 scheduled appointments and all have been cancelled. Of course this is all run by bots and AI. So I've written to Shelly Short and the other senators that represent us, filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office of Consumer Protection and have sent a snail mail letter, hand addressed to the CEO of Lumen Technologies that owns Centurylink.
As for fiber optic, I was told that a grant for the Twisp River drainage that OCEC has applied for was denied. (Most likely a federal grant) They will keep applying.
The next step is one that we did not want to take but to keep connected and not keep coming into town, is to go with satellite.

HI my friends. I had so much trouble for years with Centurylink that I finally got Starlink. It is like a dream. I don't get upset anymore and my life is so much happier without those people. They really don't care. We get the "exhaust" of what is left. They told me that!
It was so easy to change and life is good! I did not have to put out $500 in installation which was required by our locals and I did it myself. I usually buy local but not if it makes me angry every day! Good luck and I hope you get some relief! Do what brings you happiness. Emele

Thanks Emele and that is exactly what we are going to do. I use the internet alot for emergency alerts for fire and weather and business correspondence and this BB!
This has been a lesson in patience. I'm so grateful to be here. But it's gonna have to be Starlink through Dish TV who we have been with for 30 yrs. So I can pretend it is Dish that is supplying us.

Century link having a big customer support problem. Currently there is no service personnel in the MV, technician need to come over from Wilbur to fix any problem. Reporting problem is a PITA, since trouble calls routed into overseas (Philippines) and asking all kind of silly question! Lumen is an investment company did buy century-link and as long the revenue coming in they are neglecting the services. Complaint should be filed in to the Public Utilities branch of the Wa.State government and Century link should be penalized for not maintaining local service, have more then one echelon in the Methow, having answering machine in the local community and most problem should be solved within 24hrs and not ending up trouble problem overseas. Hitting them with hefty fine in the pocket where it hurts!! The company having two offices, one in Twisp next to P.O., the other is in Winthrop but neither offices having no tech on board. Sad situation for our infrastructure, check out Lumen on the internet and there advertised page assure you that you in heaven. AI will not help here, only through investigation and fines.

Yup, did all that you said. I called the Utilities Commission and they do not deal with internet issues. He referred me to the Attorney General's office which gave me the Consumer Protection Division.
Not waiting for fiber optic or Centurylink now. As Emile says, do what makes you happy.

Yet another place where we have some small recourse in the face of these large companies is the Federal Communications Commission’s consumer complaint process. Though still not reallly likely to make a difference, Centurylink is indeed required by law to respond to any consumer complaint, both to the FCC and the consumer who submitted it.

I can certainly appreciate not wanting to do this since you’ve already struggled with this, but it remains an option (and could help others who can’t afford Starlink).

Had thought of the FCC.
Starlink not expensive. $55/month, half of what CenturyLink was charging us and for .8 MB speed, believe it or not.
Cancelled internet with Centurylink. If fiber ever makes it up our way we would possibly switch, but fiber is a very long way off.
