Repair Cafe this Saturday, June 20, at The Cove!

Post by MethowRecycles » Mon Jun 15, 2026 9:57 am

Methow Recycles' Repair Cafe is back for another round of fixing, diverting waste, and bringing folks together around coffee, donuts, and repair.

This Saturday, June 20, from 10am - 12pm at The Cove in Twisp.

We've got volunteer fixers of every flavor, from BIKE MECHANICS, to SEWERS and DARNERS, to SHARPENERS, to RIVETERS, to MECHANICAL and ELECTRICAL WIZARDS, and everything in between.

Why not make a morning of it? Farmer's Market + Repair Cafe = Saturday GOALS!

See you there!

I have a women’s beach cruiser schwinn that I am disposing of. Damaged front hub. Do you want this for any reason? Otherwise in good condition, a bit dusty

No appointments necessary, just show up, check-in, and we'll connect you with the repairer that's right for the items you've brought in. We ask that customers stay with their items during repair (no drop-offs) -- this is also a great way to learn how to repair and maintain your items in the future!

Items must be small enough to carry into Repair Cafe (i.e. no full size appliances)
We also don't accept:
- small engines
- anything with fluids, or that could be hazardous
- items that are excessively dirty

moose, thank you for asking! We don't want to keep anything from Repair Cafe -- it's a service for you to fix your things and take them back home to continue using, or perhaps give to someone who needs it. You're welcome to bring in the bike if you'd like our bike tech to take a look at it to see if it can be repaired. However, it's unlikely that a front hub can be fixed on the spot; he may only be able to advise you on next steps. Otherwise, if you're set on disposing of the bike, you could take the metal parts of the bike to Methow Recycles to be recycled!

I have two questions:

Do you help with bike tune-ups?

The other things I need to repair require parts. I assume I need to show up with the part and the item?

Thank you!

Sandra,

If you know the parts needed for repair, it's best to bring them. Otherwise, our fixers can diagnose a problem and tell you which parts to purchase and bring back to the next Repair Cafe for install. We have simple things like adhesives, standard zipper pulls, basic patching fabric, etc. onsite, but anything specific to an item will need to be purchased by the customer.

We will have a bike fixer at this Repair Cafe, and he can help with tune ups, depending on any additional parts needed. He also runs the Bike Shack out of The Cove, so anything that can't be completed during Repair Cafe could be worked on/finished with a Bike Shack appointment. Here's a blurb about the Bike Shack:

"The 3rd Season of the Methow Valley Bike Shack is sponsored by the Cove as a place for Valley cyclists – regardless of prior bike repair experience - to work on your adult or kids bikes with a knowledgeable bike mechanic. The space is equipped with bike repair tools and a bike repair work stand. We can also help and / or teach you how to repair almost any system (brake, drive train, etc.) on your bike with the exception of hydraulic brakes and /or air / oil suspension forks and shocks.

The Bike Shack is open on: Tuesdays 9:30am to 12:00pm and Thursdays 10am to 2:00pm and is available by appointment only. So, please request an appointment by contacting us at: methowvalleybikeshack@gmail.com

We will contact you to confirm your appointment request.

A donation to The Cove of $15 per hour for using the Bike Shack is suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds."

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Anyone interested in this bike let me know soon, before I scrap it out
Thanks
