Town of Twisp EV charger

Post by Slade » Thu Apr 09, 2026 9:14 am

So I was going to try out the charging station in front of Twisp Town Hall. It shows that it is a ChargePoint system. Since I don't have an RFID card, I went to load the ChargePoint app on my phone. Gave it a debit card to sign up and I immediately had 2 bogus charges to the card before I had gotten through the sign-in.

Mind you, I hadn't yet done anything with the charge station itself. Has anyone used an RFID on that station without issue? Am I linking to a bogus ChargePoint page on my phone, or is ChargePoint just a scam site?

I think chargepoint puts a hold on your card of $50 or $75, like gas stations sometimes do (though rarely). then you get refunded and they charge the actual cost of charging once it's finished. Personally I'd consider a credit card so that those holds don't actually come out of your own money. I believe if you have a chargepoint account these problems go away.

These were not charges for the EV charger. One was a membership to some workout center in Garden Grove, CA, and the other was to an online beauty supply place in Vancouver, WA.

Along those same lines twice in a month I used a credit card at Walmart and within hours someone charged $500 at a Walmart in Arizona. twice I have had to have the card replaced,

Still hoping to hear from someone who has used one of those chargers successfully.

I have never had them work. The chargers at the OSB tap room work great.

Sorry to hear this happened to you!

This charger has a 10/10 score on 38 reports on PlugShare which is very high. Last report was a couple of weeks ago. I would assume that if someone were able to tie fraudulent charges to this charger they would have updated their rating, but you never know.

There are 2 new chargers behind town hall off of Lincoln and 3rd by the battery containers, 11.5kw each. These are free and require no log in or app. Also, these will be powered by the batteries in the case of an outage.
