Rest in Peace Bill Hottell

Post by Sunflower » Tue Nov 18, 2025 7:40 pm

On November 9th a legend passed in our Valley. We can easily describe him as the most tender, loving and warm hearted individual we have ever met. In my own thoughts I will remember dance days at the Senior Center with Diana on the Banjo and Bill at the piano. There wasn't a person in history or date Bill didn't know in the winter history classes he taught. He was a lifetime learner as he put it. We were fortunate to travel with the class to places we studied led by Bill. He always held his cap high so the group could follow him through the other tourists as we travelled along.
"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."

Thank you for sharing this. Bill was truly a beloved member of our community who I feel fortunate to have known. My heart goes out to Diana and family for their loss.

Some time back, I found Bill's CD of river boat tunes at the senior center thrift store. I play these piano classics on the legion hall radio station KFAC-LP 105.5 FM Twisp WA. I am thankful for this treasure of songs he left for us to enjoy.

I also think of the photos at the community center stairwell. I think Bill Hottell took those photos for the community spotlight. I am grateful I have had the chance to meet him before his passing. I told him I play his music on our little radio station. If Bill took the stairwell photos, I wonder who took the stairwell picture of him.

What a wonderful man.
