• Fairgrounds update:
o groomer has been repaired;
o plans to donate manure compost to school garden programs;
o weed control bids;
o well drilling details.
• Planning Dept update:
o discussion about proposed cannabis moratorium and enforcement of rules in general;
o BOCC votes to approve 6 month moratorium on new cannabis growing operations;
o flood plain update;
o discussion about health department role in determining water availability and adequacy.
• Update on new morgue and Sheriff storage building. Work is progressing slowly, discussion about upgrading some materials.
• Veterans Relief Board Update: discussion about services provided in recent months, plans for future; since the VRB is a county department, they have not seen any funding cuts yet.
• · Public Hearing on 4 open open space applications: public input from Methow Conservancy on suggested changes to future applications. BOCC votes to approve all 4 applications.
• Search and Rescue (SAR) update: discussion about using funds for thermal drone, boating safety.

Tuesday, April 1, 2025 AM
• Commissioners Neal and Timm discuss Monday’s BOCC meeting concerning cannabis grows and the Planning Department. During the public comment period, a grower talks about his experiences with being in compliance with Planning and wonders why his annual permit fee is so high.
• Zak Kennedy, Couty Lobbyist, updates the commissioners on last week in the legislature. He calls it a week of mind-numbing dullness.
• The commissioners discuss the possibility of borrowing $500,000 from the Solid Waste Closure Fund to pay for the jail’s HVAC system. Pam Johnson, County Treasurer, and three people from Public Works are involved. The commissioners have yet to decide if they’ll borrow the money or not.
• Meeting adjourned for lunch at 11:10.
Tuesday, April 1, 2025 PM
• Agriplex discount accorded for Fair Queen fundraiser at Agriplex annex; dwarf wrestling scheduled next day at Agriplex.
• Five applicants including Verleen Hughes and Charlayne Knapp are under consideration for Planning Commission.
• Office of Public Defense “up and running”, will aid indigent individuals.
• Risk pool announces minimum 25% increase in liability insurance; alert system on computers as a “panic button” discussed.
• County website company contract expiring; Civic Plus more costly but highly rated.
• Candidates sought for combined Therapeutic Court-Jury Advisor post.
• Commissioners tired of administering Methow EMS for free, will give ultimatum.
• 430 plastic bristles collected from faulty street sweeper on Commissioner Hover’s road.
• County’s $100,000 Community Action Council award for family housing community to be stretched over three years; budgeting easier if formal request made each year; letter of support for EPA grant to council
• Affordable housing funds from state apparently cut off.
• Office of Child Development can no longer use Ringhoffer building–not adapted to children.
• Meeting adjourns for the day at 3:10.
