I have noticed many fewer serviceberries were produced this year. I heave read that serviceberries are one of the bears' most important late summer food sources. This leads me to think that bears may be ranging more widely and "publicly" than past years to seek their fall fattening foods.

Has the grange considered purchasing an electric, battery operated one from local purveyor Cascade Pipe? They carry excellent ones, you'd be contributing to cleaner air, avoiding high gas prices to run it, and supporting a local business. Perhaps if approached they would give the grange a steep disc...
