Re: Where is my mom’s ballot? And why is Twisp running this election this way?
The best source of information to answer all of your questions is the County Auditor’s office. Their phone number is 509-422-7240, and their website is https://www.okanogancounty.gov/318/Auditor. Since others may have the same questions, I will share what I know here. Q: Where is my mom’s ballot? A:...

Re: Twisp Wilderness ???
Actually, other than giving their approval to the final draft, the County Commissioners had very little to do with the process. The bulk of the work was done by the dedicated staff in the Auditors office and volunteers from both major political parties (myself and three others). It involved many mee...

Here is a link to the MVN article that explains the precinct redistricting process. https://methowvalleynews.com/2025/08/21/okanogan-county-revamps-election-precincts/ The new names are an attempt to describe the precinct. The one you are in stretches all the way from Twisp to the wilderness to the ...

Tonight! Meet the Democrat running against Dan Newhouse!
Did you know that a Democrat has thrown his hat in the ring to run against Dan Newhouse? His name is John Duresky and he will be in Twisp tonight (Wednesday, October 29) at the Grange. Doors open at 5:30 pm, and there will be an opportunity for you to talk with him and hear why he decided to run. Li...

Re: IKEA Kitchen Cabinets + Custom Doors
I used to use Ikea, but have found that in recent years the quality has declined. The boxes are particle board, and you have to pay extra for the soft close hinges and drawer hardware. I don't think they even have solid wood fronts any more. About 5 years ago we built a new kitchen and discovered th...

Re: Congressional townhalls?
After the 2016 election there was a similar interest in getting Newhouse here for a town hall. Several people tried in vain to get him to respond, so we had our own town hall without him. We had a life-size cutout of him propped in a chair. As I recall, about 200 people showed up.

Re: Public Hearing on Housing Behind Hanks
The County Commissioners had an interesting conversation about this yesterday during the Public Works weekly update. You can watch the video at this link: https://media.avcaptureall.cloud/meeting/10d6a6c9-d363-4176-bf11-e026fb64e2cd. There are two places in the video where this is discussed. At time...
